This blood bank covers New Philadelphia, Middleport, Blythe Township and Brockton. It is for all persons of the Schuylkill Valley and is sponsored by Rotary. The blood bank project was the key point of discussion during the Rotary meeting held at the Methodist Church. Also this month, the annual drive for funds for the Red Cross is in progress in the Schuylkill Valley and at this time, pledge cards for prospective donors are being distributed. Robert Stine, chairman, said the district Rotary Conference will be held May 14 to 16 in the Poconos with six members and their wives from Schuylkill Valley attending.
A donation was made to New Philadelphia Cub Scout Pack 133. Robert Carey, at a prior meeting, spoke on New Philadelphia Bicentennial activities and fund-raising projects. Members purchased the New Philadelphia Bicentennial history booklets.
