In April 2023, Ned Wolfgang Kelly provided an update on his romance with Hayley Atwell on Instagram. The couple was vacationing in Venice, Italy, where Kelly decided to pop the question on the morning of their arrival.

Alongside a heart-tugging caption was a selfie depicting Kelly and Atwell cozied up in bed. Atwell wore a shocked facial expression, holding up her large diamond ring to the camera.

"Around midday the love of my life and I got engaged in the kitchen of this strange apartment full of porcelain ducks, with a bloke outside the window murdering 'My Way' on the accordion," Kelly penned.

He felt it was the perfect start to the rest of their lives. The music producer remarked he'd never considered marriage until meeting the "extraordinary woman" that is Atwell. He said he was as "happy as a clam."

The news of Atwell's romance with Kelly broke in July 2022 following a reported recent break-up on the actress's end. Though the lovebirds kept their relationship relatively private, they had been spotted enjoying several dates, including one to Disneyland.

An insider close to the couple shared, "Hayley's happiness is written on her face right now. They get on like a house on fire and make a very handsome couple." The lovebirds recently attended the "Mission Impossible 7" premiere afterparty in London.

An entertainer like his wife-to-be, Kelly has produced commercial music for brand giants, including Samsung and Budlight. He has also scored, acted, and directed low-budget films.

Additionally, he is a songwriter. Kelly is also a vegetarian pagan who has abstained from alcohol and drugs for over a decade, according to his Instagram bio. He is an LGBTQ and Black Lives Matter ally.

Speculation over the nature of Atwell and Tom Cruise's relationship began in 2020 when they started filming "Mission Impossible 7," which also stars Rebecca Ferguson and Simon Pegg.

At the time, paparazzi photos of the two that showed them cuffed to one another during filming had gone viral. A source claimed they "hit it off" from day one and became "fairly inseparable" over time. Atwell and Cruise also attended many high-profile events together.

Months later, however, they reportedly ended their relationship due to overwhelming publicity and busy schedules. Still, it ended on good terms, as another source said they were happy to continue working together.

In June 2022, it emerged that Atwell and Cruise had split once again. Reports say the pair had rekindled their romance quietly, though it's unclear when. A month later, Atwell's relationship with Kelly became public news.

Despite Persistent Romance Rumors, Hayley Atwell Said Her Relationship with Tom Cruise Was Platonic

It was in May 2023 that Atwell addressed the speculation. She denied that she and Cruise were ever romantic partners, saying, "It's tabloid journalism. Part of the machine that's beyond my control. It doesn't surprise me, but it's disappointing."

Despite how persistent the rumors have been, Atwell said they never affected her work relationship with Cruise, although they came up from time to time. In another interview, she explained that she knew she could speak to Cruise if the rumors started to worry her.
